Mikati briefs ambassadors, international organizations on the humanitarian conditions in south Lebanon

NNA – Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Thursday held a meeting at the Grand Serail, with accredited ambassadors in Lebanon and international organizations, with the aim of explaining the humanitarian reality and the current situation in south Lebanon.

Partaking in the meeting had been Deputy Prime Minister, Saadeh Al-Shami, and Caretaker Ministers of Environment Nasser Yassin, Tele-Communications Johnny Al-Corm, Social Affairs Hector Hajjar, Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Abdullah Bou Habib, Public Works and Transportation Ali Hamieh, Information Ziad Makary, and Youth and Sports George Kallas.

Also participating in the meeting were the ambassadors of: the United States of America, Australia, China, Turkey, Austria, Jordan, the Sultanate of Oman, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Canada, Switzerland and Cyprus, as well as the United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator Imran Riza, and United Nations bodies and agencies operating in Lebanon.

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Defense Council, Major General Mohamed Al-Mustafa, and the Head of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Unit at the Presidency of Council of Ministers, Zahi Chahine, also attended the meeting.

On the other hand, Premier Mikati received at the Grand Serail, the Cypriot Ambassador to Lebanon, Maria Hadjitheodosiou.

During the meeting, the general situation and the bilateral relations between the two countries were presented.
